eXtended WordNet Knowledge Base
Lymba's eXtended WordNet Knowledge Base (XWN-KB) is an upper ontology built as an extension to WordNet. Unlike the conventional domain-specific ontologies that are built from open source documents like news, intelligence reports, etc., the XWN-KB is built from the definitional glosses of WordNet concepts. Additionally, the glosses for each concept are tagged with Polaris semantic relations in order to increase the connectivity of XWN-KB. In this way, XWN-KB is a rich resource of world knowledge that is critical to effective inference in COGEX and PowerAnswer.
Here is an example of how XWN-KB compares to WordNet.
