Coreference Resolution

In linguistics, coreference occurs when multiple expressions in a dialog refer to the same thing. For example, in the sentence "Bob said he was going to the store," the words Bob and he are most likely referring to the same person. Therefore, we would say they are coreferent. Properly identifying coreferent relationships, or coreference resolution, is a key component of the automatic interpretation of text.

Lymba's coreference resolution tool resolves multiple expressions that refer to the same entity in a discourse by analyzing the syntactic parse of the sentences in a document. Currently Lymba's coreference resolution operates at the document level and performs only pronominal and nominal coreference.
